SGS-IPS Testing has announced the addition of a mannequin lab to its repertoire of testing options. This testing is available for baby diapers, adult incontinence and feminine care products. 

Mannequin testing is available on both finished products and their individual components. There are many tests to choose from with Absorption Before Leakage (ABL) and Anarewet Skin Hydration (ASH) being among the most important.

ABL testing measures amount of absorption before leakage by applying multiple doses of synthetic urine. A sensor-sheet automatically detects and stops dosing sequences when the maximum capacity of the product is reached and a leak is detected. The absorbed volume is then measured and an average calculated.

ASH testing measures the amount of moisture sensations that may be experienced by the user. A known quantity of synthetic urines applied to the diaper through the mannequin and a pad of collagen is applied to the topsheet. The moisture absorbed by the collagen is then measured.

The mannequin lab is complete and is available for tours and to accept samples.
